In a novel solution to the unique problems that face many Muslims when looking to travel abroad, travel companies are beginning to offer what are being dubbed as 'halal holidays'. The holidays are catered specifically towards Muslims and include destinations that are guaranteed to comply to halal standards, allowing the holidaymakers to be free in the knowledge that their holiday adheres to halal standards.
Amongst the countries that are offering the experience is Turkey. Despite the country's Muslim majority, thousands of Brits flock there each year to take advantage of cheap sun, sea, sand and alcohol. Now, however, some of the resort in the country are offering halal breaks to cater for those who don't want these features of a holiday.
The holidays generally offer the same as any other, but with tweaks to adhere to halal standards. For example, no alcohol will be sold at the hotels and pools will not be mixed.
Both Crescent Tours and Islamic Travels have begun offering the holidays and they are fast taking off amongst Britain's Muslim population.
