Youngsters Take Part in Cookathon Using Halal Foods

A number of youngsters have taken part in a special cookathon at Holbrook Primary School in Trowbridge. Amongst the ingredients they used were a number of halal foods, including halal meats. The cookathon is part of the Let's Get Cooking Intiative that the school is involved with.

Reception teacher Victoria Farmer commented "We were given funding from the initiative last year and as part of that we were required to take part in community events, one of them was a big cookathon.

"The hall was set up as a big kitchen and was arranged so two classes at once could go in and prepare a recipe from Let’s Get Cooking.

"They made things from halal meat and couscous to pizzas, blueberry muffins and cheesy biscuits, vegetable curry and mango and sweet potato curry. It was a really successful day."

Parents came later in the day and paid £1 each to try the food their children had made.
