Recent news from the Dutch houses of Parliament has revealed that a majority of MPs would now support a bill to ban halal and kosher slaughtering throughout the country. The news comes after the country's Labout party announced that it too would support a ban on the practice.
The proposal, which was drawn up by the pro-animal rights group PvdD, is to be debated next week. The party will argue that the method causes the animal undue pain and suffering.
The three religious based parties in the parliament oppose the ban based on religious grounds, for obvious reasons.
