A butcher who lives in South West Australia has caused a stir by refusing to sell halal meat. He claims that the reason he has removed the meat from his store is that he believes there are animal welfare issues in relation to the meat and also that the quality of the halal meat is not up to standard.
Mr Jaremczuk stressed he was not anti-Muslim, saying one ofhis best friends was a practising Muslim. He admitted his stance had attractedplenty of comments.
He said "Primarily we don't want to sellhalal meat, second to that is the science behind it and thirdly we believe thatwhen an animal is dispatched, that religion should not come into it."
